MusicMakers! Inc., has served over 3.000 students since 1998. Of these, an estimated 600+ have gone on to study music privately &/or participate in school music programs. More than 250 past campers have participated in local & state Honors Ensembles &/or All-State Groups. About 40 past campers are now music teachers or music education majors; lawyers, engineers, pre-med students, or architects, & around a dozen have been accepted into or graduated from Ivy League schools.
MusicMakers! has been featured in the City of Coral Springs Summer Fun Guide (go to www.coralsprings.org to download a copy of the latest SummerFun Guide), the Coral Springs Forum & the Sun Sentinel Newspaper, & is highly renowned by parents & music educators in the South Florida area. In 2022, MusicMakers! won first prize in the Amazon Small Business Small Business Grant competition, out of 19,000 applicants nationwide.
A unique music laboratory pilot program, MusicMakers! has premiered several original compositions by local composers including Don Hicks and Caryl Ginsberg Fantel, & highlighted local youth music talent such as “Sons of My-Stro” at finale shows. Gifted students are challenged through creative compositional activities. Director Nicole M. Greggs is a National Board Certified Teacher in Elementary/Middle Childhood Music, a 2006 Broward County Teacher of the Year Finalist, and was the 2008 Broward County Arts Teacher of the Year. She is also a former Professor of Elementary Music Education at Florida Atlantic University.
