Returning Counselors

Welcome Back! First, complete the Online Volunteer & Staff Application between February 1 and June 1 annually. Then, check the Meet the Staff page to view room placements, usually updated by June 1 annually. No need to be re-fingerprinted, but you DO need to complete the PrivacyPolicy (print, complete, scan) and Affidavit for Good Moral Character (print, complete, scan)

Frequently Asked Questions

1- What’s required to volunteer?

Musical and/or artistic experience is desired but not mandatory. A completed Volunteer Application; 2 letters of recommendation; a love of children, and the forms above are required. Returning Counselors need only complete the online registration form (we will cover the $15 reinstatement fee).

2- How do I apply?

First time volunteers- Click to apply online, then email your Privacy Policy, Affidavit of Good Moral Character, and two letters of recommendation to: Ms. Nicole Greggs, Camp Director @ musicmakerscamp@aol.com. Returning counselors need only complete the online registration form.)

3- What is the deadline for volunteer applications?

The volunteer application window opens on February 1 annually. Volunteer Application Deadline is June 1 annually, but call 954-868-5515 for availability. Space is often available after that date.

4- Is an interview required?

Depending on your application and enrollment, an interview may be required. Ms. Nicole will call you if needed.

5- Why does MusicMakers! want help from volunteers?

Campers benefit greatly from additional support from volunteers, and volunteers who enjoy music and/or are music education or performance-bound college majors gain valuable teaching and leadership experience for their high school and college resumés. Everyone wins!

6- How and when will I know if I am accepted as a volunteer?

You are automatically accepted! Unless Ms. Nicole calls you, submission of this application is considered a commitment to assist for the session(s) you indicate. The online counselor list is usually updated by May 31 annually. You can check your status by visiting www.musicmakerscamp.com under “About”>”Meet the Staff” and see if your name is listed under “Volunteer Counselors”. If it’s not & the site has been recently updated, please contact Ms. Nicole via phone 954-868-5515 or email musicmakerscamp@aol.com for clarification.

7- How do I get my fingerprinting done?

ALL COUNSELORS and Staff must be fingerprinted and pass a Level 2 Security Screening in order to work or volunteer at MusicMakers! within 60 days of and at least 2 weeks before the start of camp. Returning Counselors need only complete the online registration form.

  • The Music Makers! Summer Camp Agency/Facility Live Scan or electronic Originating Agency Case Number (OCA) is 10061609Z.

8- What training is required to be a MusicMakers! volunteer?

Plan to attend two mandatory orientation trainings during setup week from 1:00-3:30pm on Thurs. June 15, 2023 and 1:00-5:30pm on Friday June 16, 2023. If you cannot attend these meetings in their entirety, you must contact Ms. Nicole, Camp Director, to make alternate arrangements, or you cannot serve as a MusicMakers! Counselor.

9- What do I need to bring to the orientation training?

Once you are confirmed as a volunteer, be sure to bring the signed Level 2 Volunteer Clearance Affidavit, your recommendation letters (if needed), and your signed City of Coral Springs Release and Waiver form (all available on this website) -if you have not already emailed them- to Orientation. Please silence cell phones during training.

10- How many service hours may be earned in a session/ full summer at MusicMakers!?

Counselors may earn up to 200 hours per summer by volunteering for setup week, session 1 and session 2 regular hours only. With extended hours until 5:30 daily, counselors can log up to 250 hours in one summer.

11- What are the dates for MusicMakers! Summer Camp?

12- How do I get my volunteer hours approved?

First, read the Service Learning Guidelines & submit the SBBC Volunteer Form form to your school before summer vacation to ensure your school will approve your service with us. Second, sign in every day in the Counselors’ Log Book and complete your Service Learning Log Sheet daily while you are working at camp. Your sign-in sheet hours must match your Service Learning Log Sheet hours. On the last day of your session or at the end-of-summer celebration, Ms. Nicole or a designee will sign off on your Service Learning Log Sheets & you may submit them to your school in the fall. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES OR YOU MAY NOT GET CREDIT FOR YOUR SERVICE HOURS. 

13- Does MusicMakers! offer paying positions or scholarships?

Pending enrollment, MusicMakers! sometimes offers a limited number of college scholarships to instructors and/or head counselors who work all 6 weeks of camp, including setup week.  Ms. Nicole contacts past counselors who have shown exceptional leadership no later than May 31 annually. Also, pending adequate donations from penny wars and concerts, we sometimes offer scholarships to students studying music in college. 14- What will I be doing as a MusicMakers! volunteer?

A lot! Counselors can choose either to be an instructional assistant in one of our instrumental labs or to travel with an age group to all of the various camp areas and assist everywhere. Other duties include setting up classrooms, costumes, cleaning, snacks, contests, performing with campers, greeting campers and parents, running games, taking pictures, putting together powerpoint presentations, camper supervision, moving /setting up/tearing down equipment for concerts, assisting backstage with concerts, and in general anything that needs doing. For more information, call Ms. Nicole, Camp Director, at 954-868-5515.
