Plantation Park Singers have TWO uniforms: Formal and Informal.
Choristers need to have BOTH uniforms for performances, and we ask that these pieces NOT BE WORN as part of the daily wardrobe, especially the t-shirts, as we order 1 per child per year and if yours gets stained we may not be able to replace it.
FORMAL UNIFORMS
The formal uniform is worn for our winter and spring concerts, music festival appearances, and other formal events. It consists of:
- Girls: Harmonique dress and formal shoes (see below for approved styles); hair neatly secured out of eyes with black accessories only; no jewelry, perfume, or makeup. Returning choristers may wear pins and/or medals on their uniform on their left shoulder.
- Boys: tuxedo outfit and formal shoes (see below for approved styles); hair neatly secured out of eyes. Returning choristers may wear pins and/or medals on their uniform on their left shoulder. Boys are loaned a green cummerbund/bowtie set for each performance, which is to be returned after each event in its storage bag.
RENTALS and PURCHASES.
- To minimize costs, choristers are encouraged to rent from the Margie Dellerson Chorus Uniform Bank before purchasing new items.
- The uniform bank is housed in the music room.
- Children who donate items that no longer fit to have first pick from the bank, but after that, anyone can come in & get what they need.
- If your child is a returning chorister, be sure to check that all your items fit by Sept. 30; if they don’t, send items in to the Uniform Bank. If we can, we will trade you for a larger size. If we don’t have a larger size, either see info. below on where to purchase new or we can purchase one in your size for the bank that you can then rent. Thanks!
- Contact Mrs. Greggs via ClassDojo if you can’t come by and we’ll see if we have your size. We will also make arrangements for your child to try on whatever you need.
- You may also want to contact families whose children have participated in Chorus in the past but are not singing this year. They may be willing to sell or give their items directly to you.
- Our performance outfits are ordered from Southeastern Performance Apparel (https://sepapparel.com ) in case you wish to purchase on your own.
Items in the Margie Dellerson Uniform Bank are offered for rent from PPSBA as follows:
- Dresses = $30 rental donation per year without dress donation (return dress at end of year with no refund) or even swap with dress donation (you keep the dress at end of year);
- Tuxedo pants & shirts= $30 per outfit (tux pants & shirt) or $20 per item, per year, without like item donation (return items at end of year with no refund) or even swap with like item donation.
- Shoe bank is free– come see if we have your size before you purchase (see below for approved styles).
- Uniform rental donations or financial aid applications are due to PPSBA by Oct. 1 annually.
OTHER IMPORTANT TIPS TO KNOW.
- BORROWED OR RENTED ITEMS MAY NOT BE CUT, OR YOU MUST PAY FOR A NEW DRESS/ PAIR OF PANTS. Please baste-stitch hems instead.
- Missing dress bows must be replaced at a charge of $10 each, payable to PPSBA. It’s a good idea to hot-glue or stitch or hot glue the parts together when you receive your dress.
- Children are fitted for formal uniforms in September/October.
- Rentals are sent home upon receipt of each child’s donation or financial aid application approval.
- You may opt to purchase the Harmonique dress (sizes 7 & up; SPECIAL CUTS*- *Girls smaller than size 7 need to either: a) purchase a size 7 dress & have it altered locally; or b) provide accurate exact measurements & order a special cuts dress at an additional fee (check Southeastern Formalwear website) or boys youth tuxedo outfit directly from Southeastern Formalwear, instead of renting. The sooner you order, the better, as items typically sell out each fall and are backordered for up to 3 months.
- If NEEDED, please have alterations made by Formal Uniform Check Day (3rd week of November), which is worth 25-points.
- Note- DO NOT CUT HEMS ON DRESSES OR PANTS, or you may not have enough to let down by the end of the year! Children typically grow 1-4 inches per year, and hems must touch the top part of the shoe’s toe portion.

UNIFORM CHECKS
Uniform checks are held periodically throughout the year to ensure compliance with uniform expectations. Music festivals often include appearance as part of our group’s performance ratings.
On Uniform Check Days, please send your child’s entire formal uniform to school in a bag with his/her name on it. Children will change into uniforms after school & be checked by a team of parents. Each child will receive a letter summarizing the status of his/her uniform. Problems need to be fixed before the Uniform Recheck Day, or the child may not be allowed to perform. Children who do not fix uniform problems will lose points in addition to performance privileges.
